How Can I Get An Ad-Free Experience, On The iPhone App?

Ads allow us to offer our Dictionary, Thesaurus, websites, and apps for free! In addition to these resources, we also create the content so many of our customers enjoy: our fan-favorite Word of the Day, insightful articles, fun quizzes and word games, and more!

On iOS, we offer both

1. Our Free App (with ads and optional Upgrades for purchase): Dictionary.com: English Words
2. Our Pro App (a paid app that is ad-free): Dictionary.com Pro Learn Words

If you prefer an ad-free app experience, we recommend one of these options:

1. In the Free app, purchase the 'Power Pack' Upgrade to remove ads

A purchase of the 'Power Pack' Upgrade, will give you the full experience of all our Upgrades in one purchase + an Ad-Free experience.

Alternately, you can purchase the  'Remove Ads' Upgrade, which will remove ads from your Free App experience but is a stand-alone purchase (it does not include any other upgrades or features).

Please note, purchases of the following individual Content Upgrades add additional content to your Free App, but do not remove ads: Offline Dictionary, Encyclopedia, Example Sentences, Grammar & Tips, Idioms & Phrases, Rhyming Dictionary, and Science Dictionary.

2. Purchase the Pro App:

Our second recommendation is to purchase to the Dictionary Pro App (if available in your location). In addition to our Dictionary and Thesaurus entires, the Pro App is an ad-free experience that also includes all of our premium features (Encyclopedia, Example Sentences, Grammar & Tips, Idioms & Phrases, Rhyming Dictionary, or Science Dictionary), and also allows for an offline dictionary option.

Notes:

• The Free and Pro Apps are two different apps; purchases and customizations you make within one do not transfer to the other app.
• Purchases of an Upgrades or the Pro App are contained within the App Store, and associated with your Apple ID. They are not transferable between App Store accounts. They are also not transferrable to other online stores for applications or to accounts outside of the App Store (ex: if you move to the Google Play Store you will not be able to access your purchase from the Apple App Store and will need to make a new purchase from the Play Store.)
